In this book, I freed myself from fear and allowed my senses to speak. In doing so, I found peace and realised that " with truth, we can heal".Love, family, infancy, and self-discovery are the themes explored in this anthology.I talk about my relationship with my dad and how I came to discover that my mother and I shared the same dream: " I guess those umbilical cords tied up not just our lives but our dreams too"
About me
I am Cape Verdean girl, born and raised. I moved to Portugal when I was 16, and live now in the UK – the place where I unearthed my poetry.It’s like what was planted in Cape Verde, imbued in Portugal, and came about in the UK.“I have had some misfortune,
but they don’t compare with the amount of love I have collected from all over the world;
from two continents and three countries, from my grandma to my mom and my aunt.I can’t compare love to anything;
not even air suffices
for life is more than a breath
and love compasses both."
